What is a mala?

A mala is an ancient tool used for meditation, made from sacred seeds, stones, wood, or bone. Traditionally, malas are comprised of 108 beads, but half and quarter malas are also used. A mala serves as a sacred reminder of your path. They can be worn simply as a reminder of intentions or used in your own mantra (japa) meditation practice.”

How do you meditate with a mala?

Find a seated position that you can comfortably hold for a period of time. Choose a mantra that resonates with you; it could be a traditional Sanskrit mantra or a positive affirmation. Sit quietly for a few breath cycles, taking a full breath in and then exhaling.

Hold your mala according to your tradition or preference. Begin reciting your mantra, starting slowly with intention. Gradually, let the speed ascend from a soft whisper, then a silent utterance in your mind, to a stream of sound in the mind, and finally, sit in silence.

After you finish, gently bring movement back into your limbs and conclude the session.

What makes Renovatio Beadworks malas unique?

I begin with high-quality materials such as genuine stones, sacred wood, and seeds, knotted together using a durable double-stranding technique. My goal is to provide you with a beautiful spiritual tool that is sturdy enough for everyday use. While all malas are intended to eventually break as a symbol of our spiritual growth, I hope your mala stays with you throughout the lessons of life and breaks in its own time, as intended.

Note: Never force your mala to wrap around your wrist. Excessive pulling on your mala will significantly increase the risk of premature breakage. If you choose to wrap it, please do so loosely.

We kindly ask you to consider shipping time when placing your order. Thank you for your understanding.”

I want to purchase a bracelet, but I'm not sure what size I should pick. How do I measure my wrist?

First, wrap a string around your wrist, then mark the point where the ends meet. Straighten the string against a ruler to get the size of your wrist in inches. The second part of sizing is up to you. Do you prefer bracelets that fit snug or loose? Keep in mind that elastic also relaxes over time.
