This mala represents the Root Chakra. According to Hindu traditions, the Root Chakra is a red wheel of energy located at the base of the pelvis. It signifies our most basic needs: food, shelter, clothing, and healthy human connection. Without these, we would not be able to function at higher levels.
I chose 8mm matte onyx, faceted pyrite, poppy jasper, smooth carnelian, and finished with a spiral faceted onyx guru bead for their grounding and protective properties. I've double-stranded and hand-knotted it with red thread. While red has many uses in Indian culture, I chose it for its symbolic meaning of bravery, protection, and strength. The mala is approximately 22 inches long and sits around the solar plexus.

Onyx:
Onyx symbolizes inner strength, self-mastery, and discipline. This stone enhances focus, protection, and grounding in one’s purpose.
Carnelian:
Carnelian is a stone associated with courage, vitality, sexuality, and confidence. Known to activate the first, second, and third chakras, carnelian aids those seeking to build confidence, courage, passion, and inner strength.
Pyrite:
Pyrite, linked to the Manipura (Solar Plexus) chakra, represents willpower and the ability to boost resolve for physical tasks. It’s also used to break habits, establish positive patterns, and create harmony.
Malas serve as meditation tools; typically, an intention or mantra is recited with the turn of each bead. Each mala I create is unique, selected based on quality, color, and energetic compatibility. Every mala receives a Sanskrit mantra, a spray of Sage oil, and infusion with Reiki.
